Dead by Daylight Patch Notes: Latest Update (Oct 6, 2026)
The most recent Dead by Daylight update is “10.2.0 | Mid-Chapter”, which was shared on Steam on October 6, 2026. This update introduces a Survivor Intent System. Now, Survivors can send predefined messages during matches, with options to mute or opt out. It also changes the rules around Abandon, Surrender, and End Trial. Plus, many general perks have been adjusted, including reworks of Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, Shattered Hope, Undone, and Down to the Last.
What changed in 10.2.0
Survivor Intent System
- Survivors open a messages wheel by holding the scroll-button on mouse or pressing right on the d-pad.
- 8 predefined messages are available, and players can customize their selection and inputs in Settings.
- Sent messages appear to all Survivors next to their information on the left side of the screen.
- On Match Details, players can mute and unmute others. The muted player is not told.
- Players can deactivate the system in Settings. Opted-out players show a "no" icon on Match Details.
- Sending messages too quickly adds a 1s cooldown, rising up to 5 seconds if spamming continues.
- A new Gameplay section in Settings holds the options under "Messages".
Abandon, Surrender, End Trial
- Survivors can Abandon when all other Survivors are bots. This counts as an MMR draw.
- Killers can Abandon when all remaining Survivors are bots and at least 1 is not in the Dying State.
- Survivors can Surrender when all Survivors are in the Dying State at once (previously Abandon). This counts as an MMR loss.
- Killers can End Trial when all remaining Survivors are bots in the Dying State. Remaining bots are Sacrificed.
- Two conditions are removed: a Survivor repeatedly recovering from being downed, and no Generator progress for a prolonged window.
Killer perk updates
- Agitation gives 14/16/18% Haste while carrying (was 6/12/18%), and Terror Radius is 12m larger.
- Dead Man's Switch now triggers when a Survivor stops repairing for more than 2s, with a 30/35/40s block and cooldown.
- Dissolution and Hex: Blood Favor return to a basic-attack trigger condition.
- Hex: Thrill of the Hunt is reworked: a Totem ignites on the first hook, and hooks block Hex Totems for 4/5/6s per lit Hex Totem.
- Shattered Hope is reworked: snuffed Boon Totems are destroyed, and Totem events block Dull and Hex Totems and reveal Boon Totems.
- Undone is reworked: hooks earn tokens, and damaging a Generator spends them to remove 8/9/10% progress and block it for 8/9/10s per token.
- Unrelenting missed-attack cooldown is 30/35/40% shorter (was 20/25/30%), and successful-attack cooldown is 10% shorter (new).
- Help Wanted and Machine Learning can now compromise up to 3 Generators at a time (was 1).
Survivor perk updates
- Better Than New gives 40/45/50% faster blessing, cleansing, healing and chest unlocking (was 12/14/16%).
- Boon: Illumination makes Boon Totems show Chest and Generator Auras, and you bless 150/175/200% faster.
- Calm Spirit now makes you silent and 8/9/10% faster at Totems and Chests (was 40/35/30% slower).
- Dark Sense now triggers within 20m for 13/14/15s and shows Pallet, Window and Survivor Auras.
- Down to the Last is reworked with Tokens from hooks and Generators, faster Exit Gates, and Hatch unlock as last Survivor.
- Five Moves Ahead now shows the 5 closest Pallets (was Pallets and Windows).
- Friendly Competition gives 10% faster repair for 80/85/90s (was 5% for 100/110/120s).
- No One Left Behind heals and unhooks 80/90/100% faster (was 50/75/100%).
