7 Days to Die Patch Notes: Latest Update (Oct 5, 2026)
The latest update for 7 Days to Die is “V3.3.0 Stable”, which was posted on Steam on October 5, 2026. This version introduces the Bigger Backpack system along with an 8×6 inventory grid featuring 48 slots, three more than the previous 9×5 grid. You can choose from Small, Medium, and Large backpacks, each available in six quality levels. When you equip a backpack, your total can increase to as many as 96 slots in an 8×12 grid. Additionally, this update addresses various inventory, death, and server issues.
What changed in V3.3.0
New content
- The new inventory grid is 8×6: 4 rows of free-to-use slots and 2 rows of encumbered slots.
- Backpacks come in Small, Medium and Large sizes with 6 quality levels each.
- Equipping a backpack in the new Backpack slot adds encumbrance slots, up to 96 slots in an 8×12 grid.
- The Pack Mule perk and Armor Pocket Mods can remove the encumbrance.
- Backpacks can be crafted, looted or bought.
- Multiple toolbelt pages are added for use in Prefab Editor, defined by a new toolbelt xml.
Changes
- ItemActionRanged.TryExecuteAction is now virtual to keep mod compatibility.
- Prefab cells data is optimized to use native memory.
- Rancher footstep SFX now sounds like footwear instead of barefoot.
- Bug reporting for players stuck on the loading screen is improved, with fewer stuck cases and simpler respawn logic.
- Some conditions that could hang respawning now have timeouts that prevent a soft lock.
Bug fixes
- Item background no longer flickers when moving into storage.
- Moving inventory item stacks no longer triggers both pickup and place SFX.
- Workstation now updates the prompt for items to collect.
- Setting drop on death to Equipment no longer duplicates equipment on death.
- Fixed a rare deadlock involving chunk-straddling MultiBlocks and the save system processing culled chunks.
- Vehicles again check inventory contents before pickup on dedicated servers.
- Dying while reloading no longer bugs out the weapon.
- Fixed a possible exception edge case in RegionFileManager.
Known issues
- A possible NRE when generating chunk decorations, in new games only.
- The Euthanizer perk triggers but doesn't work.
- Item sell number might not display correctly.
- Items cannot be consumed from a Campfire until transferred to the backpack first.
- On Mac with French client language, joining a p2p game or server fails.
- Changing language options in MacOS freezes the game and throws an exception, forcing a quit.
- The tenth item from the Hotbar cannot be sold.
- Bows, crossbows or knuckle items equipped in 3rd person float in front of you in 1st person. Changing the active toolbelt slot in 1st person works around it.
