Albert Hong

My name is Albert and I have been gaming since I ever got my hands on a Game Boy Color. You could say I am in love with the gaming industry and pretty much anything involving games. I have written about games briefly for another site and I hope to broaden my horizons through Explosion. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Communications and I take plenty of time to relax on the Xbox 360 mostly, but I'm open to it all!

Metal Gear Solid is undoubtedly one of gaming’s finest achievements. A few years ago, having not even played a MGS title, I could still have easily identified the trademark gravel voice of David Hayter and the “!” iconography due to the amount of attention it garnered in popular culture and Egorapter cartoons. Since those dark...

WARNING: This review will wholeheartedly document the journey of a complete and utter noob. So the time has come… the next stage of BETA testing for The Elder Scrolls Online has gone public. I must admit, this was a game I’d not particularly reconnoitered with interest over the year – partly because MMO’s aren’t my...

When it comes to the world of media and videogames, I consider myself a very lucky chap indeed. I often find myself having lengthy discussions with friends talking about how we were always the ‘right’ age as youngsters for things like the invention of the internet and Harry Potter – how we’ve been blessed enough...

New system. New hands. Same old CJ. As a huge fan of Rockstar Games and, in particular, the groundbreaking title that was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – I made a conscious effort never to revisit Los Santos until I had come to forget the bulk of the game. It was like a great movie...

Maybe it’s Infinity Ward. Maybe it’s the exciting buzz of the ‘next generation’. Or maybe it’s the fact I’m actually good at this one… Yet to me, Call of Duty: Ghosts is as fresh and entertaining as the COD franchise has ever been – offering a well earned place as the next ‘true’ successor to...

‘Is it someone new?’ asks the preacher in BioShock Infinite, poetically harking back to the ghoulish splicer’s welcoming sentiment in 2007’s BioShock. Back in March 2013, this was just sheer fan service – an intelligent pat on the back for the fans that subsisted the franchise for 6 years. Now as we head towards the...

I love the word ‘Revelations’. It seems to be used a lot these days as a way of stimulating audiences with a promise of an intriguing expose – although ironically it’s only ever been used in various types of below-average media where there is in fact very little to ‘reveal’ (ergo Silent Hill: Revelations, Assassin’s...
