Albert Hong

My name is Albert and I have been gaming since I ever got my hands on a Game Boy Color. You could say I am in love with the gaming industry and pretty much anything involving games. I have written about games briefly for another site and I hope to broaden my horizons through Explosion. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Communications and I take plenty of time to relax on the Xbox 360 mostly, but I'm open to it all!

Gamers got a glimpse of the future at Sony’s press conference where their next-gen console, the Playstation 4, was officially announced. Along with its name, we were able to see the Dualshock 4, some interesting new features, and some promising new games for the PS4. While I’m sure there’s still a lot more that Sony...

Temple Run 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to 2011’s highly addictive iOS/Android game Temple Run, developed and published by Imangi Studios. For anyone who has yet to play the original, I’ll break it down thusly: In true Indiana Jones fashion the game features around a group of explorers who attempt to steal an ancient...

George R. Gissing once famously wrote, “It is familiarity with life that makes time speed quickly. When every day is a step in the unknown, as for children, the days are long with gathering of experience…” With the wonder of childhood at the heart of any Studio Ghibli project, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the...

American McGee, as you may know already, has been responsible for putting twists on classic tales and stories of childhood, and then translating his vision into video games we can enjoy. Some notable examples of his work as designer and founder of Spicy Horse Games, an independent development studio, would be American McGee’s Grimm and...

While I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the developers’ original intention, 007 Legends plays like an intricate love-letter to the golden age of gaming. With graphics that wouldn’t feel out of place in 2002’s Brosnan-inspired 007 Nightfire, some woeful combat that survives only on its charm and some trademark humour than would split the sides of...

A marmite franchise is made more palatable in a fresh bid to revitalise the Devil May Cry saga, but is the re-birth of one of gamings most iconic demon-hunters really a step in the right direction for both Capcom and Ninja Theory? I’m of the mindset that Devil May Cry was in desperate need of...

Hello dear readers and happy new year! It’s no surprise that last year was a healthy one for gaming fans and production companies alike, with presumably “standard” titles such as Far Cry 3, The Walking Dead and The Darkness II far outselling everyone’s expectations and rivalling blockbuster titles such as Halo 4, FIFA 13 and...

Bethesda have had a tendency in the past to lose focus with their DLC offerings. Whether it be the expansion packs that don’t quite slot in alongside the game they’re meant to be expanding upon or expensive content that offers very little to extend audience gratification – Skyrim has undoubtedly been one of the busiest...

Where do you start with a series like Hitman? It’s a gratuitous, non-stop thinking man’s franchise that has now moved swiftly with the times courtesy of IO Interactive and Square Enix. Whittling down Michel Ancel’s fanciful Rayman Origins onto a portable device was always going to be a tough challenge. The PSVita coped admirably with that task, retaining the heart and humour of the original whilst adding enough new ingredients to make it feel like not-such-a-direct-to-handheld-port. However this isn’t the PSVita… and this isn’t Rayman Origins…...

Gaming was once about the overall interactive experience. The console was a portal that transported us into the addictive realms of virtual entertainment and compromised nothing; if you needed to get to point B you’d always know exactly how to make it there, get the t-shirt and then be back in time for tea. Then...
