Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Demo Arrives November 2 After Pikmin Day Direct

Sarah ChenBy Sarah Chen·

Nintendo is set to release a demo of Pikmin 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 2, according to My Nintendo News’ report on the Pikmin Day Direct. This announcement came during a special presentation for the series’ annual fan celebration.

The demo’s release date lands in a busy month. Nintendo Life’s roundup notes 11 new games coming to Switch 1 and Switch 2 in November 2026. So, Nintendo is dedicating a prominent Direct slot to a title that’s already available.

Pikmin 4 originally launched on Switch on July 21, 2023. Offering a demo for Switch 2 indicates that Nintendo aims to engage the growing audience for its newer hardware, which debuted on June 5, 2025. The launch price for Switch 2 was $449.99.

The details about the demo remain unclear. We don’t know how much of the game will be playable, if progress will carry over to the full version, or if Nintendo plans a paid upgrade for Switch 2. We’ll update this story when Nintendo provides more information.

The timing is also strategic for visibility. Pure Xbox lists over 30 games releasing on Xbox during November 2-6, the same week as the Pikmin demo. A free, easy-to-access demo could help it stand out in that competitive window.

Community Pulse

The demo hasn’t launched yet, and the source material didn’t include Steam reviews, forum threads, or social media posts to reference. We won’t create reactions out of thin air. Once players have hands-on time, expect conversations about demo scope, Switch 2 performance, and any upgrade pricing.

What To Watch

  • Demo contents: Nintendo’s eShop listing should clarify playtime limits and whether progress carries over to the full game.
  • Full-game plans: An announcement regarding a Switch 2 version, upgrade pack, or price change would reveal how Nintendo plans to convert demo players.
  • Early performance reports: Frame rate and resolution comparisons with the original Switch release will influence the reception in the first week.
