How demanding is Destiny 2?

Its minimum memory requirement of 6 GB is higher than 31% of the 183 PC games we track. Its 105 GB install is larger than 89% of them.

Destiny 2 aims for compatibility with older hardware. Both minimum and recommended tiers list processors and graphics cards from several generations ago. This means that even an aging budget machine meets the minimum requirements. A decent mid-range PC from a few years back can easily handle the recommended specs. You won’t need a brand-new high-end build for this game. However, the Steam Deck isn’t supported, so you can’t play it on handheld devices.

Storage poses a real challenge. The game requires 105 GB, which is the same for both minimum and recommended settings. This means a small drive fills up fast, so installing it on an SSD is the smart move for better load times. One strange detail is the recommended graphics line, which includes an odd “Memory 8 GB RAM” note. You’ll need Windows 10 64-bit, as support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 ended on June 4, 2024.

Can you play Destiny 2 on Steam Deck?

Valve rates Destiny 2 Unsupported on Steam Deck. That means Valve’s testing found it does not run properly on Steam Deck.

  • Note: Unsupported anti cheat configuration

Is Destiny 2 on Mac or Linux?

No. Steam lists Destiny 2 for Windows only, with no native Mac or Linux version.
