The Marvel roster had their fair share of fighting in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and now its time for the DC heroes and villains to smash each other senseless in upcoming brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us.
If you haven’t yet seen the title, its a 2D fighter developed by NetherRealm Studios, the developer responsible for the awesome Mortal Kombat reboot last year. While its unlikely we’ll see fatalities, Injustice has its own brand of unique over-the-top violence as the characters pummel the complete crap out of each other like you wouldn’t believe. Its violent as hell, with the below trailer alone showing Superman slamming a car in the Flash’s face, Catwoman slashing Batman’s face to ribbons with her claws and Harley Quinn detonating a bomb literally under her opponent’s feet.
Arkham Asylum and Arkham City fans will be pleased to hear that Kevin Conroy, referred to by many as THE voice of Batman after his work in Rocksteady’s games and The Animated Series, will reprise his role in Injustice.
If you didn’t catch the first trailer, its still worth a watch so check that out too below. Blasting enemies through storeys of buildings is both hilarious and awesome. It’s like Dragonball Z on crack.
Environments and nearby objects, as you can evidently see, will play a big part in how you defeat your opponent. Using cars, buildings and other nearby objects on top of the characters’ powers, weapons and gadgets looks like the game will provide an exciting spin on the traditional fighter genre. With the latest trailer also comes an announcement from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that the game now has a new release window of April 2013. It looks incredibly fun, and is already among my most anticipated games of next year.
Injustice: Gods Among Us will launch on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
