Borderlands 2 is one of the unexpected gems of 2012, with a lot of hype behind it after the original Borderlands became a breakout hit, selling a total of 4.5 million copies, well above expectations. Borderlands was a strange case of amalgamation where the game and the DLC was such an over-the-top pastiche of action games, pop culture references and everything in between. The thing was, it was so over-the-top and insane that it worked and it worked well. Fans loved it and the second game has gained so much steam behind it that Borderlands 2 has become one of the more anticipated games of the year.

Don’t expect Borderlands 2 to drop any of that same charm that not only brought it to the table in 2009, but smashed that table and made people pay attention to the game. It looks like the fine people at Gearbox are paying homage to some of the more popular games released within the past few years, and what better game to pay homage to than the insanely popular and innovative Minecraft. There is a Minecraft skin and head style, the style called “Mine But Not Yours” and the skin simply called “Minecraft.” That is pretty damned cool and an awesome homage to one of the better games of the past few years, but it doesn’t stop there.

Apparently there is a part of the game that goes a few steps further, and we see a part where apparently you dig through a few dirt blocks and end up in a mine that is inhabited by, yes, you guessed it (at least I hope), a Creeper. The Creeper is one of the iconic parts of the Minecraft world, they are the green monsters that loom around the Overworld, attack and then explode, doing a ton of damage to anything in the area.
