Today could be a very good day for Japanese role-playing games lovers all over the world, as it’s been discovered that Sony has registered once again one of its classic role-playing game series.
On March 27th Sony Computer Entertainment has registered, with the Japanese Patent Office, a new “Dark Chronicle” trademark. For those who don’t recognize the title, Dark Chronicle is the original name of Dark Cloud 2, one of the most unique role-playing game released on PlayStation 2.
The trademark doesn’t look any different from the original one filed for the game which expired around a year ago. The fact that Sony has bothered to register it again after a year could mean that the Japanese company may be thinking about using it in some capacity in the near future.
Dark Chronicle was released in the West as Dark Cloud 2 back in 2003. The game expanded on the Dark Cloud gameplay experience in a lot of different ways. The building elements have been improved as well as the dungeon exploring and role-playing game ones, creating a really unique mix.
We will keep you updated on the matter as soon as more news come in on it so stay tuned for all the latest updates.
