The latest issue of Weekly Jump has revealed that two popular characters will be fully playable in the upcoming J-Stars Victory VS, the upcoming fighting game celebrating the 45th anniversary of Shonen Jump.
The two new characters are well-known in the west: we’re talking about Yusuke Urameshi from YuYu Hakusho and Gon Freeccss from Hunter X Hunter. Both series have been created by the same author, Yoshihiro Togashi.
The already confirmed characters are Son Goku from Dragon Ball, Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, Toriko from the series with the same name and Naruto Uzumaki from the Naruto series, Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin, Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach. Sakata Gintoki from Gin Tama and Kankichi Ryotsu from Kochikame have joined the character roster not too long ago.
J-Stars Victory VS is going to feature 2 VS 2 battles: each player will have to choose two characters before each match. Players will only be able to control one of the two characters, with the other one controlled by the AI.
Players will be able to chain together basic attacks and special power attacks if you have enough meter to perform them: this meter is shared between the two characters of your team and when all three segments are full you will be able to do an ultimate attack with two characters.
J-Stars Victory Vs is going to release in Japan before the end of the year on Ps3 and PsVita. No news on a possible North American or European release are currently available.
