Dragon’s Dogma released a couple of months ago and the reviews for the game ranged from the middle of the road to great. The biggest complaint being that there was no easy fast travel system built into the game, so eventually the game can become repetitive. However, toady the director of the game Hideaki Itsuno announced they are working on DLC for Dragon’s Dogma.
During an interview Itsuno stated:
”I’m sure many have already cleared the game, but for Dragon’s Dogma, we’re continuing to prepare new play elements. It would be best if you held on to the game for a bit.”
He didn’t go into specifics about what the DLC might be, but “new play elements” could be almost anything from multiplayer to more quests. Some people like myself were hoping that Capcom would provide a patch that allowed for fast travel but there has been no mention of patching the game to this point.
During the interview Itsuno also stated that the game was one of the best selling games he has ever created; which sounds like a little bit of an exaggeration because he also directed Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3, and Devil May Cry 4. But apparently Capcom was surprised by the initial sales in Japan and they might be looking to have Itsuno direct a sequel.
However, Itsuno does state there if there is enough “fan support” he would like to make “the next title”. Capsom has already stated that the game has shipped 1 million units and they would like to turn Dragon’s Dogma into their next big IP. Hopefully a sequel can clean up some of the rougher edges that are present in Dragon’s Dogma.
I know not everybody loved the game but I see a lot of potential in the franchise and I hope Capcom is able to provide some great DLC for the game and clean up some of the rougher edges in the sequel.
How many of you have played Dragon’s Dogma and liked the game and are looking forward to DLC? And if you are looking forward to Dragon’s Dogma DLC, what DLC would you like to see implemented (more quests or maybe multiplayer)?
