Australian gamers are going to have a hard time if they want to play the upcoming Saints Row IV, currently in development by Volition for Ps3, Xbox 360 and Pc. Even though the new R18+ Rating for video games has been introduced at the beginning of the year, Saints Row IV has been deemed inappropriate for the Australian audience.
The Australian Classification has stated:
In the Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.
The Australian Classification Board considers Saints Row IV to:
“depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that they should not be classified.”
Saint’s Row IV will be set in a fictional Washington D.C. and futuristic Steelport, with the Saints leader elected president. Right after the election, an alien invasion begins and the earth becomes overrun by these mysterious visitors from space.
Saints Row IV will be released on Ps3, Xbox 360 and Pc on August 23.
