Part of the hub-bub over the announcement of the Xbox One has been the talk about backwards compatibility and how there is none. Nothing will upset gamers more than knowing that they won’t have access to older games on their newer console, but it seems to be the standard moving forward with game consoles. There were questions, still, hanging in the air about what it meant for Xbox Live purchases that were made on the Xbox 360 and if they’d transfer to the Xbox One when it was released. It was clear that games wouldn’t carry over, but what about all of the other media that we consume on Xbox?
According t Polygono, we can expect Xbox Live media purchases, stuff like music, movies and television shows, to carry over to the Xbox One. Those purchases are not locked into the Xbox 360 console and should be able to be transferred to the Xbox One no problem. It seems like a part of Microsoft’s strategy with the Xbox One to really push for home entertainment beyond just games.
