The Elder Scrolls Online is an upcoming MMORPG developed by ZeniMax Online Studios. The game is part of The Elder Scrolls franchise and the first multiplayer title of the series.
The Elder Scrolls Online, just like the other games of the series, will be set in the continent of Tamriel and feature a storyline indirectly connected with the other games. The Elder Scrolls Online will take place 1000 years before Skyrim and around 800 years before Morrowind and Oblivion: the Deadric Prince Molag Bal will be the main antagonist of the story as he tries to conquer the continent of Tamriel.
Players will be able to explore most of the continent of Tamriel: some of the regions will be unavailable when the game releases since they’ll be unlocked with upcoming expansions. Players will also be able to join one of the three factions warring for the throne: the Aldmeri Dominion, the Daggerfall Covenant and the Ebonheart Pact.
Bethesda has announced today that The Elder Scrolls Online will be playable at this year’s Gamescon which will take place in Germany at the end of August. Bethesda has also stated that it won’t be the only convention where The Elder Scrolls Online will be playable: more details will be coming in the near future.
