Super Mario Bros, the classic platform game released on Nes, wasn’t the first time the Mario brothers appeared together in a game. Two years before Super Mario Bros Shigeru Miyamoto developed the original Mario Bros game. Mario Bros was originally released back in 1983 as an arcade game before being ported to the Nintendo NES and a few other platforms.
Mario Bros plays differently from all the following Mario platform games: Mario and Luigi have to investigate the sewers of New York and defeat all the monsters in each stage. The only way to defeat enemies is to activate the POW block to turn enemies on their backs and then finish them with a jump. Hitting the block right beneath the enemy will flip them over as well, leaving them open for the finishing jump.
Nintendo has announced that Mario Bros will released on the Wii U Virtual Console next week in Japan: from May 8th gamers will be able to buy the game and play it on their Wii U Gamepad. There are no news on a possible North American and European release: however chances are really high, considering that Mario Bros is already available on the Wii Virtual Console.
