For those of you who have been waiting to play any of the Tales games, you’re not going to be getting the game anytime soon. Series producer Hideo Baba told Kotaku that the reason the game hasn’t come to North America yet is because of the PS Vita’s poor sales numbers. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, the portable system just hasn’t sold well since it’s launch last year.
We’re talking about the North American regions of course, we all know how well the system sold in Japan after they cut the price, it quadrupled in sales. There hasn’t been a price cut yet for the handheld, but you would expect Sony to cut the price eventually. Baba knows that sales affect their choice of localizing the game.
“Unfortunately, at this present time we don’t have any plans to release any of the Vita titles,” Baba said. “One of the main reasons is, unfortunately the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America, so it’s one of those things that if the numbers increased considerably, then it’s something we could consider.”
Sony recently announced that more than 100 games will be coming to the PS Vita, so hopefully that’ll help the consoles sales.
