If the name Brian Provinciano is not ringing an immediate bell, he is the evil mastermind behind the neon-soaked top-down open world game Retro City Rampage, which took the world by storm upon its release a few months ago. Since its release, Retro City Rampage has gotten a ton of praise heaped upon it, for both its retro gameplay stylings and for the references to older games and older pop culture in general. It took him a long time to get Retro City Rampage to market, but it was a good learning experience for the developer who has high hopes for future titles.
In a recent interview, Brian Provinciano spoke about his desire to do more funny open-world games, much like Retro City Rampage. It turns out that he has a passion for that kind of thing (go figure!) and has some ideas floating around for at least four more open-world games that err on the side of zany. While he might not be committed to his next game being like that, he definitely says that at some point he’ll return to those roots.
