To say that there have been a few security breaches of late with Microsoft would be an accurate statement, as the Xbox Entertainment Awards site has been recently hit and now certain Xbox Live accounts have been targeted as well. This isn’t something that you, the normal, everyday gamer should really have to worry about, as it looks like the attacks have been focused more on “high profile” targets within the Microsoft organization.

According to a statement released today, select Xbox Live accounts of “high profile” Microsoft employees have been hacked and their personal information was used to gain access to their profiles. The means was apparently using their social security numbers to gain access to the accounts. Microsoft claim that they are now working with the police to get this matter sorted out, but as we’ve seen in the past, this isn’t always that easy. The targets were current and former employees and no names have been released to the public.
