Shin Megami Tensei IV release is really gonna be big: the series is one of the most successful Japanese role-playing game series and after a long series of spin-offs, it’s finally time for another numbered entry to get finally released. With the game officially launching in Japan in a couple months, Atlus has released a new trailer showcasing most of the gameplay features: exploration, demon fusion, combat and plot.
As always, the game is a set in a post apocalyptic Tokyo where demons roam free and are trying to get absolute control over the world of men. The game really looks a lot like the excellent Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and that’s quite an accomplishment, considering it was released on a home console. Battles will be even more hectic thanks to some new mechanics awarding more extra turns to both player and enemies. The fusion process has also been streamlined with the game giving suggestions on possible demon combinations, removing a lot of different windows and menus.
While the game will hit Japan on May 23th esclusively on Nintendo 3DS, a western release date is still unconfirmed. Given how almost all Shin Megami Tensei titles have been released in the West in the last years, the game will most likely get released in the future in North America and Europe.
