Sega has just announced the release date for the hotly anticipated real time strategy game, Company of Heroes 2, and it’s a lot closer than you think. The sequel to the critically acclaimed RTS game, Company of Heroes, will launch on June 25. The game was originally slated to release next week, on March 12, but after THQ had to auction off all of their assets, the game was pushed back indefinitely. We got lucky, it’s only been pushed back 3 months. I was sure the game would come out a lot longer down the road, maybe around the fall.
“Our acquisition by Sega has given us the chance to work with a new partner that has a great track record of working with long standing PC franchises,” stated Company of Heroes 2 executive producer Jonathan Dowdeswell. “It gives us great confidence to know that we have a well aligned team working to bring the best experience we can to gamers around the world.”
“We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel fans deserve.” commented Greg Wilson, Producer of Company of Heroes 2. “However, the wait won’t be long as players will soon be able to help us test and balance multiplayer in the upcoming Closed Beta. Details will follow shortly.” Stay tuned for the announcement of the Beta, I’m sure it won’t be long until more players will be able to get their hands on it.
