Not many games scream competitive online multiplayer like League of Legends does. League of Legends has long been one of the few games that the competitive online community has been behind, with it always being prominently featured by Major League Gaming during their seasons and there being some people that are just really damned good at the game. It has been restricted to the PC since its release in 2009, which means that fans of the action RTS games would have to be among the PC elite to play League of Legends, but the open beta for the Mac version has just gone live all of these years later.
Mac gamers get the short end of the stick sometimes, with me fully understanding this as my profession as a writer pushed me to pick up a Macbook Pro a few years ago for various, non-gaming factors under the impression that OSX would eventually be seen as a gaming platform, right? Well, it is kind of picking up some steam, but not nearly as much as some would like, but the release of League of Legends for it is a pretty big deal. You can go ahead and sign up for the beta and download it here, which I would recommend doing as soon as possible, just because it is a lot of fun.
