Sony probably wasn’t too sure on what to do with the PsVita when the console launched around a year ago: the launch titles were pretty good and gamers were expecting something great out of the console in the future. Unfortunately Sony’s lack of visions for the handheld almost doomed it, with very few titles getting developed and sales being well below expectations almost everywhere. Sony acknowledging the need of better plans wasn’t enough to just save the console from its “death”
A couple of weeks ago, however, things started to changer with a big PsVita focused event in Japan: a lot of new games have been announced, as well as a price drop for the console. The price drop wasn’t confirmed for the west, but it looks like it’s already impacting sales.
While the drop only became effective yesterday, a lot of shops already lowered the price and seem to have been enjoying some improvements on the sales situation. With some great titles coming this week like Tales Of Hearts R and Soul Sacrifice, we can expect some good sales coming.
PsVita Japanese success could mean a lot of us western players as well: it would mean more developers creating games for the handheld and even Sony taking some risks with the Vita in the west, maybe even considering a price drop for North America and Europe.
