According to one Sony executive, Gran Turismo 6 will likely be the last major PS3 game released on the system. SCEE senior vice president Michael Denny while talking about how much life the PS3 still had in it even after the PS4 announcement started listing off games still coming out for the PS3 including: “…The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, GT6, and then on the third-party side of things another fantastic Assassin’s Creed, GTA.”
Gran Turismo 6 has not even been officially announced at this point and this Sony executive is not only confirming the games existence but announcing the console it will be launched on. During the PS4 press conference last week Kazunori Yamauchi president of Polyphony Digital did appear in the video but did not confirm that his team was working on a PS4 game.
It was five years between Gran Turismo 4 and Gran Turismo 5 being released, so Polyphony Digital does like to take their time developing the games. But if Gran Turismo 6 takes another two years to develop (it has been three years since Gran Turismo 5 was released), I don’t see how the game could only be released on the PS3. But I guess like almost everything else, we are going to have to wait until E3 this year to find out anything official either way.
