The great success of the unique Journey has left almost everyone speechless: the game is quite far from today’s industry standards but it managed in very little time to become one of the best selling games on PSN.
With such success, a sequel was expected but today Sony Computer Entertainment Wolrdwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that there won’t be a Journey 2.
Gamers’ hope for a sequel were actually high, considering that Yoshida talked about Journey during last week’s Playstation Meeting, citing the game as one of his favorite digital titles available on PSN, alongside other unique but less known titles.
Yoshida has clarified today that while he loves the game, he also desires to make it an unique experience and a sequel could potentially ruin the great atmosphere.
At the same time there’s hope for more unique titles like Journey and Tokyo Jungle: the Ps4 advanced online and social functions can be used to great unique gameplay experiences. These games may not become million sellers but Yoshida wouldn’t mind, as long as the Ps4 gaming offer can be as vast and diverse as possible.
Journey is currently available on PSN as a Ps3 exclusive: if you still haven’t played the game, you may want to check it out, it’s truly a unique game.
