Ubisoft has been one of the few third party developers who have continually provided support for the Wii U; even in light of their mistake with Rayman Legends. Today we found out that the Wii U might even be getting more third party support from Ubisoft, this time in the form of Watch Dogs. Several retailers including Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop all have Watch Dogs available for pre-order on the Wii U.
There is still no firm release date, but the fact that you can pre-order the game for the Wii U seems to confirm the rumors that Watch Dogs will indeed be coming out for all systems. Companies generally don’t allow you to pre-order things that don’t exist. It would be a PR disaster ten times as big as the Rayman Legends one, if people were allowed to pre-order Watch Dogs for the Wii U only to find out later it is not coming out on the system.
So while it is not official, you might as well consider a Wii U version of Watch Dogs a sure thing. Unless of course Ubisoft’s new company mantra is to anger Wii U owners as much as they can.
The bigger question is how will the Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360 version’s of Watch Dogs differ from their next generation counterparts. Will the game still be as good on current consoles or will you need to buy a next generation console to get the full experience? Unfortunately we will probably not find out until both next generation consoles are announced.
