A Valley Without Wind 2 has finally come to Steam, after the indie company, Arcen Games, put the finishing touches on the sequel.  The game will be available for the Mac and PC, and is currently discounted 25%, down to $11.25.  The game will come with the prequel, A Valley Without Wind, so you’re basically getting two games for only one price.  The game blends classic 16 bit era game mechanics, including retro platforming and turn based strategy into a modern day package.  The first game had a pretty big following, and it was a successful title.  Arcen games did state that the first game was overly hyped, and that was the big reason for keeping the sequel release quiet.

Erik Johnson of Arcen Games released the following statement to Joystiq, “Though this is a sequel to our 2012 release A Valley Without Wind, it’s more of a spiritual one; this game is a jump like Zelda 3 was from Zelda 2.  While we were able to accomplish a lot with the first game, it was experimental and clearly not for everybody. So once we got our finances together for an update to the graphics, we decided to put our focus on a brand-new game that took everything that we learned while making the first game, plus many new ideas.”
