Just as Satoru Iwata said during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, 2013 is truly going to be the year of Luigi: after being a sidekick for all his life, it’s time for Mario’s brother to be in the spotlight with so many game seeing him as the main character. A new Mario and Luigi role playing game is currently being developed on 3DS, Luigi’s Mansion 2 coming next month on Nintendo’s handheld: those aren’t going to be the only titles starring Luigi as Nintendo has announced that a new DLC for Super Mario Bros U will star Luigi
The new DLC for the game will be quite big, according to the new details given by Nintendo today: the New Super Luigi U DLC will make Luigi the star of the game with different abilities than Mario. For this reason all the levels of the game will be reworked, including the over 80 stars to collect: it will be basically like having a completely new game.
Another feature will be the ability to freely swap between Mario and Luigi’s versions of the stages but it’s still unknown of this feature will alter the gameplay experience even further.
Nintendo once again delivers when they said that they wanted to do DLCs differently from other publishers: something so big is really unprecedented. New Super Luigi U will be available for download on the Wii U eShop sometime later this year.
