When games stay in development for way too much time, there’s always a high chance that the game turns out to be quite below expectation. The latest offender is Alien: Colonial Marines, the latest game based on the Alien franchise which has been in development for over 6 years: the game was released two days ago and all the reviews state that the game has been poorly though out and developed, with evident design and technical issues. Not even Gearbox’s involvement managed to save the game.
While the game is out for Ps3 and Xbox 360, Colonial Marines was also supposedly coming on Wii U at a later date but recently the game has disappeared from online listings: Amazon had a pre order option for the Wii U version of the game a few days ago but it’s not on the site anymore. Could the poor reception of the game have prompted Sega, the game’s publisher, to can the Wii U version and avoid more losses?
The publisher strongly denies such claims even though some tips are floating around stating that, while not canned, the game has been postponed indefinitely and apparently it’s not even a last minute decision since Sega supposedly choose to do this around a month ago.
