Another rumor has surfaced about the Xbox 720, this time focusing on the need to have the next generation Kinect up and functioning for the Xbox 720 to work. According to source from Kotaku who goes by the name SuperDaE, every Xbox 720 will ship with a Kinect that will be required to be setup and calibrated for the Xbox 720 to function.
Apparently the reason for doing this is to make it easier for developers to include Kinect functionality in their games because they know every Xbox 720 will require a Kinect.
The source went on to say that game installs will be mandatory as well on the Xbox 720. Installs on the Xbox 360 were optional, but a lot of people did them because it lessened the load on the system and generally improved performance. However to accommodate people, all Xbox 720 will ship with 500GB hard drives because of the mandatory installs and all the downloadable games.
Other things that will supposedly be included in the Xbox 720, the ability to play multiple games at the same time and a new controller that will be the “evolution” of the current 360 controller. Older Xbox 360 controllers will not be comparable with the Xbox 720 according to the source.
However, there was no mention of the always on internet connection being required that would end used game sales. In other words, there is a chance that none of these rumors are true but we will have to wait and see once Microsoft finally announces their new console.
