With the development of Killzone: Mercenary, the first person shooter series published by Sony is finally getting another entry, event hough just in portable form. Killzone 3 has been released back in 2011, with no new numbered entry in sight.
A rumor has been circulating in the last hours regarding the release of a potential new Killzone game, called unsurprisingly Killzone 4: an industry insider has told VideoGamer.com that the game will be officially announced on February 20 together with the new Sony console. And, as suspected, the game will be released on the Playstation 4. Development of the game is getting handled by Guerrila Games: the studio is also currently working on a new and yet to be unveiled IP.
The rumor, while still unconfirmed, may actually be true: Killzone 2 was originally announced together with the Ps3 and Killzone: Mercenary has actually been in development ever since the PsVita was announced some time ago.
No possible release date has been mentioned from the look of things, Killzone 4 could be a launch title for the new Playstation 4.
Sony hasn’t commented on the rumor so far: more news will be coming after the Playstation Meeting Event which will be held in New York in a few days, on February 20.
