During a earnings call today Ubisoft basically announced that Far Cry 4 was going to be made and that people would not have to wait as long for the next one. There was four years in between the releases of Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3, and Ubisoft assured their investors it will not take that long for the next game in the series to be released.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated: ”fans will certainly not have to wait four more years for the next Far Cry”. Guillemot went on to say that part of the reason fans of the Far Cry series won’t have to wait as long for the next iteration is because of how well Far Cry 3 performed. According to Guillemot, Far Cry 3 has exceeded sales expectations and the game has already shipped 4.5 million copies.

He went on to say that part of the success of Far Cry 3 was due to the four years in between games where Ubisoft was able to flesh out the franchise more. It was because of the fleshing out of the series that Ubisoft will be better prepared to make the next Far Cry game, therefore the wait will not be as long for Far Cry 4.

Far Cry 3 was one of my favorite games of last year, and I will be very interested to see where they take the franchise next. Where do you want to see Ubisoft take the Far Cry series next?
