In these troubled times, it’s not so surprising hearing about some developing studio getting shut down for a reason or another. It’s even hardly surprising if even big time publishers which have been in the industry for quite some time like THQ are forced to close and sell all their assets due to financial problems. Still, it’s sad seeing some talented developers get shut down, despite showing a lot of promise.
A rumor has been circulating for quite some time about Junction Point, Epic Mickey series developer, founded by Warren Spector: the rumor stated that the team will be shut down in the near future. A recent tweet made by Robert Soace Industries, which simply said farewell to the studio, added fuel to the fire and the tweet’s prompt removal didn’t make things clearer. George Broussard of 3D Realms, always the first one to know about studios closing has stated that the rumor has been circulating for quite some time but as of now there’s hardly any evidence that it could be true.
Junction Point has developer the two Epic Mickey games which haven’t done too good on the market despite showing some promise: this could be the reason why all these rumors have started circulating about the studio’s closing.
