It’s surely no news that some players like to cheat their way through the ranks of any competitive online game and, as veterans of the Call Of Duty series know, it’s even more common to find them exploiting the game and somewhat making it less fun for everyone. At the same time developers try everything they can to stop this kind of behaviors, sometimes failing and sometimes succeeding in their purpose.
As far as punishing cheaters is concerned, Treyarch is second to none when havin to take care of such problems for the online mode of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. A few players have found an easy way to increase their prestige points with little effort but once they’re found out by the developer they can expect some really harsh punishment: as reported by a player on the official Black Ops 2 forums, a fellow gamer was discovered and has to suffer a 6 days ban from the game, rank reset to 0 and some other penalties which will make it almost impossible to improve his records for the game: he has been given 1000 loses, 10.000 deaths and a kill/death ratio of 0.01! In other words, it’s going to be almost impossible to get back to a 1.0 k/d ratio. According to the reports this player is also having a hard time resetting his stats after obtaining some legit prestige tokens, so the punishment could even be going farther than what the reports stated.
Bottom line: don’t cheat in Black Ops 2. Once Treyarch finds out about you, you’re Black Ops 2 career will be over.
