The gaming industry is no stranger to censorship and the idea of being persecuted, but one series in particular has seemed to be built off of the idea of rubbing the uptight the wrong way, and that is Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition was released last year as a version of the 2011 title with all of the downloadable content included, as we see many game companies do. Well, apparently the game was denied release in Australia originally, but there is hope of finally getting a version of the game released in Australia through their new rating for games, which is R18+.
R18+ is a bit less strict than the previous mature rating of MA15+, so the publisher is hoping to slip it through under that rating, but it is still up in the air if it will be allowed a release in Australia. The new rating went into effect on January 1st, giving the publisher some hope of it being released in Australia under the new rating, but there has been nothing official yet.
