Fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates and of Andrew McCutchen will have something to cheer about once MLB 13: The Show debuts in a couple of months. It was just announced that the cover athlete will be none other than be Andrew McCutchen, one of the best outfielders in the game today. McCutchen managed to tally over 100,000 votes, with the Yankees star pitcher, CC Sabathia, coming in right behind him with 90,000 votes. The triple crown king, Miguel Cabrera trailed them both with 76,000 votes. A lot of people might have expected that Cabrera would have taken the cover, since achieving triple crown honors is so rare. I’m glad Andrew won, the man reinvigorated the Pirates’ franchise. Over the past couple of years, he’s done nothing but improve his game.
MLB: The Show will be released on March 5th, the same day as MLB 2K13. The Show has always been the better overall baseball game, and I expect it to better than it once again. It’s not that MLB 2K13 is a bad game, it just has constant technical bugs and glitches that continue to haunt the game. We’ll just have to wait till they both come out, then you judge the games for yourself.
