Despite all the analysts talk about how the Wii U console is being less than successful, official NPD numbers show quite a different situation: the Wii U has done great in the North American Market so far, with numbers apparently on the rise.
Wii U has sold over 890.000 Units since launch day, November 18 with more than half of those units sold in December, making the console even more successful than the original Wii, which didn’t reach these good sales in the first two months after launch. Most likely available software had a big part in all this, especially since the Wii U has launched with an all new Super Mario Game, something that hasn’t happen in a few years: New Super Mario Bros U has been equally successful, with over 580.000 units sold in not even two months. With the Deluxe bundles sold out even before launch and hard to find afterwards, we can only say that this time Nintendo really hit the mark and 2013 will probably an even better year with promised reveals for other Nintendo franchises and the release of many other games developed exclusively for the console.
Other Nintendo consoles sales aren’t doing too bad as well: the 3DS has sold 1.250.000 units in December with over 1.000.000 units sold for New Super Mario Bros 2.
