When I first heard that the next iteration in the Dead Space franchise would utilise Kinect, I thought, yeah, that could actually make the game scarier. I mean, registering hand and body movements barely work, so imagine how helpless you’d be when dozens of necromorphs come running for your blood.
As you may heard by now though, Dead Space 3 is simply using voice commands, not motion gestures. That’s what this trailer is all about, and you can check it out right here:
I have to say I’m not convinced that this will be a helpful addition. You can use your voice to heal, reload, activate your locator and so on, but all those things have been achievable with a simple button press in previous games. It just seems quicker to use the traditional controller.
But hey, the option is appreciated; Visceral didn’t have to bother with the implementation at all. For those of you who really get into your horror experience, shouting at the screen could be fun.
Dead Space 3 is releasing for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on February 5 in North America and February 8 in Europe.
Will you be using the Kinect features for Dead Space 3?
