Zynga’s bad year seems to be getting worse as they have been forced to cut games because of cost. The cuts are to help the company stay financially afloat as the company is in pretty dire straits at the moment. According to Zynga’s chief executive officer Mark Pincus there are thirteen games that will be cut to reduce costs.

So far eleven of the thirteen titles that are scheduled to be cut have been announced; including Treasure Isle and FishVille today. Some of the major cuts include Mafia Wars Shakedown, ForestVille, Mojitomo, PetVille, Mafia Wars 2, and Word Scramble Challenge. Zynga still has to announce two more closures and has told customers of the already closed games to contact customer support for possible compensation. Although customers of PetVille have been informed they can receive a free bonus pack for certain other games like Mafia Wars or Chefville.

It is hard to tell if these cost cutting measures will be enough to save the company as it has been getting progressively worse. At this point Zynga may not survive another year, which I know most gamers are not that upset about.
