THQ has not had the easiest of years financially, but one of the biggest bright spots is the Saints Row franchise. Particularly Saints Row: The Third, which according to a tweet from THQ president Jason Rubin has been played by at least 5.5 million people.
However, Rubin wasn’t specific about whether that was sold copies of Saints Row: The Third or if he meant shipped copies. Even better for THQ these numbers don’t include the sales numbers from the Humble THQ Bundle; which as of writing this has raised around 2 million dollars for charity.
Saints Row: The Third is one of my favorite games from last year, and I am glad to hear it is doing so well. The Saints Row franchise at this point may be the only thing holding THQ afloat; since the disappointing sales figures for Darksiders II were released and THQ had to delay both Metro Last Light and South Park: The Stick of Truth.
But next year is looking much better with both South Park and Metro Last Light scheduled for release and possibly another Saints Row game next year as well.
