Sometimes I fear that the character of Jesse Pinkman has left a profound impact on my life, and I only say this because of the sheer amount of times I find myself following up rather mundane statements in my day-to-day life with a brief pause, followed by a dragged out “bitch.” If you’ve somehow survived watching a few seasons of AMC’s Emmy Award winning series “Breaking Bad” without talking like Jesse Pinkman, portrayed by Aaron Paul, you are truly a paragon and have self-control unlike I’ve ever experienced. Aaron Paul has in the past few years, through his role of Jesse Pinkman, and the range that the character has expressed, become one of the more revered television actors worldwide, taking home two Emmy Awards.

Why is this relevant to you, the gamer? Well, DreamWorks has acquired the rights to produce a film based on the Need For Speed series of games, and none other than Aaron Paul has been slated to play the lead in the film. The choice of Paul was apparently to be “edgy” and “cool,” according to DreamWorks.

“Need for Speed is one of the most action-packed entertainment experiences you can find,” said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President, Electronic Arts.

“The newest game, ‘Need for Speed Most Wanted’ and the upcoming film take the action to all new heights. Like the game series itself, the cast for the movie needs to be edgy and cool. Aaron Paul is a rising star — a great choice for the film lead. We’re looking forward to announcing the rest of the actors that will bring this racing franchise to the big screen.”

Hopefully this does not prove to be one of the less favorable game-to-film adaptations, with the team that they have selected so far seeming to be of quality. “Need For Speed Most Wanted” is launching on October 30th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, with the Need For Speed film expected in early 2014.
