How do you get a hundred Pikachus on a train? You Pok- okay, you’ve heard that one. How about this: how do you get a hundred Pokémon fans on a train? Send them to Japan!
Unfortunately we can’t get to places using a HM Fly move to ride on a Pidgeot in the real world, so we have to rely on public transport. Riding a train in Britain is a pretty depressing experience, being crammed between alcoholics and loud teenage douchebags. If we just had this, I’d certainly travel with a smile – and possibly never go back home again.
So instead of catching ‘em all, how about catching this awesome train from Japanese railway company JR-EAST, beginning service on December 22nd around the Tohoku area. Having been found on the official Pokémon Japan website, its safe to call this legit.
The exterior is covered in the lovable critters on a colourful grassy backdrop, as are the inside walls, floors and seats. The greatest thing of all though is that the train actually holds a play area for children (and lets be honest, us adults too). This must be the only way to get a child interested in a long distance journey.
Pokémon Black and White 2 are out now and you can catch Sara’s glowing review right here – so all you wannabe trainers in Japan, take your DS’ and go on the most joyous commute of your life!
