As we all know by now video games don’t always make for very good movies, but that hasn’t stopped people from trying. However, this time Fox and EA want to go a different direction, and turn the Battlefield Bad Company series into a television series.

Fox has put in development Bad Company, an hour long action comedy based on EA’s bestselling video game from Alias alum John Eisendrath, Sony TV and studio-based Happy Madison.

Written by Eisendrath,Bad Company features the main characters from the game. It follows four renegade soldiers as they exit military life and enter the private sector. But trouble is never far behind as they realize their commanding officer had used them to further the ends of a shadow unit within the government and now wants them dead to cover his tracks. Eisendrath is executive producing with Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson and EA’s Patrick Bach and Patrick O’Brien.”

For those who don’t remember Battlefield Bad Company was a series that was more single player oriented and focused on a lot of humor. There are actually a lot of gamers out there that prefer the Bad Company series to the numbered Battlefield titles because of the humor and single player focus of the games. Even the advertisements for Battlefield Bad Company were some of the funniest video game trailers ever made; here is one making fun of the famous Gears of War trailer:

As for a television series based off the Battlefield Bad Company franchise, it could go either way. I like the fact that it is going to be a action comedy and not just focus on the war aspect of the series. However, on the other side, it could be a show that gets old really fast if the humor isn’t any good. If the show is good then Fox will probably cancel it after a few episodes, because that is what they tend to do.

I think the show has a shot at being somewhat decent but I am not holding out much hope. What do you think, does this show have any chance of being good, or will it turn out terrible like 99% of video game adaptations?
