Witcher 3 Remastered Gets Patch 5.01 on Nintendo Switch 2

Alex MercerBy Alex Mercer·

Patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is now out on Nintendo Switch 2, as reported by GameWatcher. This update brings improvements to visuals and resolution. GameGPU also noted the release.

This update follows a Polygon report confirming that the Switch 2 patch was “on the way”. The patch was released shortly after that announcement.

Details about the update are scarce. The sources we checked lack full patch notes, target resolutions, and frame-rate figures. We won’t speculate on those numbers.

The stakes are high given the game’s history. CD PROJEKT RED launched The Witcher 3 on May 18, 2015. It boasts a Metacritic score of 92 and a 96% positive rating from 267,307 Steam reviews. The Switch 2 version has to meet those expectations, especially regarding resolution and visual quality on portable hardware.

The PC version is still thriving. Steam reported 57,357 concurrent players at the time of writing, nearly eleven years after its release. You can find the game for $49.99 on Steam.

By The Numbers
Original release date May 18, 2015

Community Pulse

So far, we haven’t seen any player feedback specific to Switch 2 regarding Patch 5.01. Overall, community sentiment about the game remains mostly positive, based on 10 signals. One Steam reviewer of the PC version mentioned that “the start of the game is rather slow and a bit boring, but once you get out of the first region and the story opens up… damn.” This reflects players’ thoughts on the game’s pacing rather than the Switch 2 port’s performance.

What To Watch

  • Official patch notes: Once available, confirmed resolution targets and visual changes will reveal the extent of the 5.01 improvements.
  • Independent performance testing: Expect frame-rate and resolution measurements for Switch 2 hardware to validate the reported enhancements.
  • Follow-up patches: The 5.01 label implies more updates could come. Keep an eye on whether CD PROJEKT RED addresses any issues players report after this patch.
