Helldivers 2 Introduces ‘Exo Experts’ Warbond, Bolstering Player Options

Alex MercerBy Alex Mercer·

Arrowhead Game Studios is keeping the momentum going for Helldivers 2 with a new premium Warbond, ‘Exo Experts’, now available on PS5 and PC. This content release fits into their regular update schedule since the game launched in February 2024, ensuring players have a fresh and exciting experience.

The ‘Exo Experts’ Warbond brings a new selection of weapons, armor, and utility items to enhance player loadouts. Following previous Warbonds like ‘Cutting Edge’ and ‘Democratic Detonation’, this update offers fresh strategic choices for players as they battle the Terminids and Automatons. Ongoing support like this shows Sony’s dedication to the game, as reported by Push Square.

Since its debut, Helldivers 2 has captured a huge player base, reflected in its 82% positive rating from nearly 800,000 Steam reviews. The cooperative gameplay and live-service model have really hit home with many players. Regular content additions, including updates like Update 1.006.101 in March, aim to keep this engagement strong.

Even with solid initial numbers, the current player count has dropped to 31,930, down from its peak. The standard edition of Helldivers 2 sells for $39.99 on Steam. Arrowhead plans to continue using these Warbonds, which players can buy with Super Credits, to create new progression paths and cosmetic options.

Community Pulse

While Steam reviews are mostly positive, recent community feedback shows some negativity, especially around player progression and monetization. One reviewer, who logged 120 hours, commented, “This game, and the devs, do not respect your time. It’s slow to earn things in game without having to spend money, even though yes, you can technically do things without spending money.” This highlights growing concerns about how slowly players can earn in-game currency and the pressure to spend actual money.

What To Watch

  • Keep an eye on player retention rates after the release of the ‘Exo Experts’ Warbond and other upcoming content.
  • Watch for possible changes to the in-game economy or progression systems in response to feedback on Super Credit acquisition.
  • Follow Arrowhead Game Studios’ updates about future Warbonds and major game changes.
