If you want to get the most out of your vaping experience, you need the right equipment – and for those who enjoy herbal vaping, the best equipment for the job is constantly changing. You might prefer the more traditional experience of using a dry herb vaporizer, or you may have gravitated toward the more potent world of oil and wax concentrates. Whatever your preferred style of vaping might be, though, there are certain tools that belong in every vaper’s arsenal because having the right tools ensures that you’ll have no difficulty dealing with any unexpected situation that may arise.

Do you want to be certain that you’re going to have a great experience every time you sit down to enjoy a session with your vaporizer? If so, you need to make sure that you always have these essential vaping tools available.

Empty Cartridges

On the shelves of any good local or online vape shop, you’re always certain to find a wide variety of empty vape cartridges. It’s wise for you to have a few 1-gram carts available, even if you generally use pre-filled cartridges rather than filling empty ones yourself.

The biggest reason why you should always have some empty vape carts available is because you may occasionally buy a pre-filled cart that turns out to be a dud and refuses to fire at all. What will you do if that happens? You certainly wouldn’t want to throw the cartridge away – the oil is worth much more than the hardware itself. If you have an empty cartridge available, you can crack open the non-functional cartridge and transfer the oil to a cartridge that works.

Blunt-Tip Syringe

If you’re going to transfer oil from a dud cartridge to an empty one, you need a way to do it – and you’re not going to have a very good experience if you try to simply pour the oil from one cartridge to another. If you want to fill a vape cart without making a mess, you need the right tool for the job – and the ideal tool for filling a cartridge is a blunt-tip syringe. A syringe allows you to draw all of the oil out of the bad cartridge and inject it into a new cart – with no spillage – even if the cartridge has a very small filling hole.

When you buy a syringe for your vaping arsenal, get one that has clear measurements on the side. Most vape cartridges hold 0.5 or 1.0 ml of oil. If you add more than that, the cartridge will overflow when you try to close it.

Wax Coil

It’s always a good idea to have a few empty cartridges available even if you prefer to use pre-filled carts, and the same is true of wax coils. A wax coil can last a very long time if you keep it clean, and it’s very useful to have one around in case your local dispensary happens to have some bulk wax available at a good price.

Even if you don’t ever plan to buy a wax-based concentrate, though, a wax coil is still useful to have around because it can allow you to vape any residue that you might reclaim from a used oil cartridge or from the oven of a dry herb vaporizer. You might even consider making your own wax from dry herbs that aren’t potent enough to provide an enjoyable smoking or vaping experience.

Backup Battery

The worst thing that you can ever experience when you sit down for a vaping session is a battery that refuses to work. If you only have one vaping device – and it doesn’t fire – you’ll be left searching online in vain for advice about how to hit a cart without a battery. You don’t want that to happen.

The most common vaping devices for oil cartridges are 510-thread batteries, which are very inexpensive. Because they’re so affordable, there’s really no excuse not to have a spare available – and it’s a very good idea because inexpensive batteries are known for failing suddenly and without warning. This is one of the best investments that you can possibly make for your vaping tool arsenal.

Spare Charger or USB Cable

Your battery isn’t the only item in your vaping arsenal that can become a single point of failure – it’s just as bad if your battery works, but you have no way to charge it. Many of today’s vaping devices have built-in USB ports for charging, which is very useful because almost everyone has a spare USB cable or two lying around. If you’ve ever used USB cables to charge mobile devices before, you’re well aware of the fact that cables often become unreliable after many months of constant use. If you don’t have an extra USB cable, you should get one.

If you have a vaporizer that charges directly through the 510 threading, having a spare charger is doubly important because you can’t find a replacement for a proprietary charger at an ordinary electronics store – you need to buy the replacement directly from the device’s manufacturer. You should buy a spare charger before your device’s original charger fails.

Cleaning Accessories

One of the most important things you can learn as a vaping aficionado is that you’ll always have the best possible experience if you keep your equipment clean. A clean device works more reliably, and clean equipment also produces the best possible flavor. The best cleaning tool for vaping equipment is rubbing alcohol because alcohol dissolves almost all of the residues produced during vaping. For items that can be safely submerged in liquid – glass mouthpieces and wax coils, for instance – nothing cleans those items more quickly than a dip in rubbing alcohol followed by a rinse in fresh water.

For electronic items that can’t get wet, it’s also useful to have a few other cleaning tools available. A dab tool, for instance, is great for scraping spent herbs and other residue out of a dry herb vaporizer’s oven. Alcohol wipes are useful for removing stubborn residue without getting an item completely soaked, and cotton swabs can help you clean tight spaces.
