Setting A New World Record In High Wire Walk Nearly Ends In Disaster

Attempting a high wire walk at 915ft (278m) sounds crazy enough, but to do it in order to set a new world record and without using safety ropes is either commendable or insane.

Still, 26-year old daredevil Spencer Seabrooke did just that and almost payed with his life.

The place for this brave feat was high above the Chief North Gully, in British Columbia, Canada.

Shortly after Spencer sets on his tightrope act, he slips and as he would later say “would’ve been mashed potatoes after a seven-second free fall.”

Fortunately, he manages to catch the rope in time and after composing himself, finishes the high wire walk, setting a new world record for the longest free, solo slackliner, overshooting the old one by 23ft (7m). Here’s the footage.

A well deserved record.
