Dead Island was one of the most talked about games last year, mostly because of the amazing trailer for the game that blew up the internet when it launched. However, the game itself turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment, as it was not able to live up to all the hype. Although, Dead Island did sell well enough to most likely get a sequel.

And now comes news that Dead Island developer Techland has filed for a trademark called Dead Stop. According to the filing Dead Stop will be: ”entertainment services and providing an online game via an application for mobile phones and other electronic apparatus.” In other words, it looks like the Dead Island franchise will be making its’ way over to mobile phone gaming.

At this time nothing else is know about Dead Stop, we don’t even know if it is a  full game or maybe a tie in application for the next Dead Island game. Right now the only thing we know for sure is that Dead Island publisher Deep Silver is working on a follow up game called Dead Island Riptide. Not much is known about that game either, other than it is being worked on for consoles and PC. It might even be a next generation game but until there is an official announcement we won’t know for sure. However, Deep Silver has promised us more details will be revealed this summer so we will not have to wait much longer for news.

The original Dead Island sold more than three million copies, so it is safe to assume we will probably see the Dead Island franchise around for a while. I actually liked the open world feel of a zombie game, but I like many others had some complaints that I hope are addressed in the sequel. Regardless it was a fairly addictive game because of the weapons leveling system and always wanting to level your character up, so I am excited for a sequel.

What are some of the things you would like to see implemented in Dead Island Riptide, or what are some of the improvements that you would like to see?
