We’ve been talking about this for what feels a long time now; the transition from THQ to Take-Two of the WWE wrestling game license and it looks like Take-Two is finally calling it official. Weeks after THQ’s big asset sale where the WWE license was oddly missing and reports surfaced of WWE having control over the license, where it goes to and making a deal outside of the asset sale, we finally have confirmation that it has happened. Well, it has happened and everyone involved is awaiting a judge’s final seal of approval to make it official. So don’t uncork those wine bottles yet, things are not quite done.
There are a bunch of settlement issues to be ironed out between who gets what when it comes to royalties and how to handle former developer Yukes as well as their stake in THQ. Still no word on what will happen this year, who will be developing the next title and when we’ll ever see a Take-Two WWE game, but stay tuned.
