Ubisoft really upset gamers when they announced that the highly anticipated Rayman Legends would be delayed for the second time now to early September, to coincide with the releases of the newly announced Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Early adopters of the Wii U were angry over the fact that this initial Wii U exclusive was going to be released for the two other consoles, but fans of the game became even more furious over Ubisoft stating that the Wii U version of the game was pretty much complete and the only reason for the delay was so that the game could be released at the same time on all three platforms.
In hopes to quell this rising anger from the people, Ubisoft announced via Facebook that they are “working with the development team to provide [people] with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon”. There is no word yet on when Wii U owners will receive this demo. I’m sure Ubisoft meant well in making this announcement but looking at the comments under this Facebook announcement, it seems that people are more annoyed at this.
It really doesn’t make much sense that Ubisoft wouldn’t just go ahead and release the Wii U version of the game for the people who invested in the system to play this game. They could just release the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions for September as scheduled, and I’m sure Ubisoft could have avoided all this backlash. What do you think about this situation? Do you understand Ubisoft or are you disappointed?
