<p>Video game players should no longer wonder. Titanfall 2 is in the works. However, the big news that came out earlier this week: Respawn Entertainment executive Vincent Zampella confirmed that the franchise is going multiplatform for the upcoming sequel. Zampella confirmed the multiplatform news in a recent interview with <a title="IGN" href="http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/03/12/titanfall-2-confirmed-coming-to-xbox-one-ps4-and-pc" target="_blank">IGN</a>. More and more gamers in this day and age want multiplatform releases. Case in point: the fury of players at the revelation that Bayonetta 2 was exclusive to the Nintendo Wii U; and when Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced as a time exclusive for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Respawn Entertainment has made the right and proper decision for the future of the franchise by taking the franchise in the multiplatform direction.</p>

<p>Sales for Xbox One picked up over the 2014 holiday season. However, the fact remains that more people own a PlayStation 4 than the Xbox One console. It makes sense that Respawn Entertainment wants a piece of that video game player pie. A smaller company like Respawn Entertainment probably wants to get its game in the hands of as many players as possible, and an exclusive can limit that. However, Titanfall was limited to only the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows. That means, the game was not available for the best-selling video game console on the market, meaning that a lot of money that could have gone to Respawn Entertainment for Titanfall on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 was not printed. Well, it looks like the sequel will rectify that mistake.</p>
<p>Since the franchise is going multiplatform, I would like to see one other aspect added to the franchise. I would like to see Titanfall 2 add a formal, single-player campaign. I get the sense from Zampella&#8217;s interview that Respawn Entertainment is not yet committed to this idea. However, he does seem open to the idea, which will be discussed in brainstorming sessions. It would be interesting to see what Respawn Entertainment could do with a narrative and single-player component. The mecha play with the Titan robots adds many insane possibilities for a fun single-player campaign. If it does not work out for Respawn, I understand. However, it does not hurt to try. In Titanfall, I noticed that Respawn incorporated a lot of mechanics&#8211;for example, the ability of soldiers to jump off walls. Those abilities and skills come off as ideas that would be more suited to a single-player campaign.</p>
<p>Titanfall 2 is currently in the works at Respawn Entertainment. A formal release date on the game has not yet been announced.</p>
